DIETETIC LICENSURE BOARD

Mission Statement

The mission of the Idaho Board of Medicine and the Dietetic Licensure Board is to promote the public health, safety, and welfare. The regulation of dietitians in Idaho helps to insure that therapeutic nutritional services of high quality are provided to the people of Idaho.

The Dietetic Licensure Board is an advisory body to the State Board of Medicine. The Dietetic Licensure Board is responsible to make recommendations to the Board of Medicine concerning the qualification of applicants for licensure, as well as the issuance and revocation of licenses. They also recommend rules to be promulgated concerning dietetic practice.

"Dietetic practice," "practice of dietetics," or "practice dietetics," means the integration and application of principles derived from the sciences of nutrition, biochemistry, food physiology, management, and behavioral and social sciences to achieve and maintain human health through the provision of medical nutrition services and the development of therapeutic nutrition care plans to assist in the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of disorders of body functions, systems or organs.

Dietitians are regulated in Idaho by the Board of Medicine and must be licensed to practice the profession.
